If you could show a distant photo or tell us how tall this plant was that might help.

thanks Ryan. I looked at the reference for snapdragon, but it seemed that it was for cultivated snapdragons. I also looked at photos of wild snapdragon, and the formation of the buds and the calyx surrounding the flower, looked different, though the flowers looked similar. So I am not sure...
