Yes Jeff it is unfortunate, but perhaps if a Wildlife Rehab person is located soon there is hope for this one.
Unfortunately, this bat was probably disturbed somehow and became active from hibernation. It liklely used a lot of energy to become active and unless it can be fed a lot of insects (which are in short supply in winter), probably won't survive.

This is a bat and is protected by state and federal law. Bat rescue is a tricky thing because of the protection laws and the possibility of rabies. Contact your local Wildlife Rescue people or local Animal Control so that no harm comes to the bat or members of your family.
