Brown almond shaped clusters growing out of tall meadow grasses.

Thanks Chesterbperry! We saw a similar species on the Pacific Crest Trail in California today.
Carex and Scirpus are in the same family(Cyperaceae), so not too far off. Fairly confident this is a Scirpus.
It could be but I'm not sure. Thank you for the effort!
it was a guess as the stem looked triangular!
I don't think this is Carex...but thank you for your suggestion.
