Description:
Exoskeleton of what appears to be a bee. Reminiscent of cicada exoskeleton left on trees in Washington, DC, with same white "hairs" along split. Two sited on Mt Tam. Second one was adjacent to what appears to be a den of all scorpions. See them in the crack of the wood. What is this bee-like thing that either molted or was eaten internally by a parasite before it left the host, splitting open and melting? Reminds me of a potential cicada killer wasp attack, paralyzing this insect and laying an egg in its body. Larva then feed off bee's innards, turn into something else and exit host's body. Help.
Habitat:
Forested section of Mt Tam
Notes:
See description.
