Description:

This stuff was everywhere. It was jelly like, shiny and clear. seemed to bubbly up around weeds. what the heck was that.

I spotted this on the side of the road all over New Zealand, seemingly untended land.

Did you add a store bought compost in the soil? I have been reading reports of water retaining granules. added to compost and when it gets wet, it turns to a gel and it retains the water in the soil. or this jelly fungus (Tremella cf. fuciformis)
