At this size, could be anything, including a mushroom that the veil has not yet opened. I have never seen a giant puffball with a textured surface, they primarily smooth.
Not sure but I believe they all start small
i think this is too small, this fungi is smaller than a golf ball
i found this on a golf course but it's not a golf ball.lol
Could be this Giant Puffball (Calvatia gigantea)
