What else?? ;-)... Thanks for the link! I will keep an eye on this one...
All points taken bayucca! But indeed what else?! BTW, for info, have you seen this key? http://moodle.zhaw.ch/file.php/3755/Tagfalter-Schluessel-Melitaea-neu-A4.pdf
At first sight I would also say Melitaea deione, but not Berisali but Melitaea deione deione. But I am still not happy with that ID, but what else?? Daniele: Look carefully at the spots at the margin of the forewing: No triangles or "bowed cubes", just nice cubes, 2 similar rows, 6th spot larger, following quite a broad and empty stripe, then 1 black stripe, than 1 black stripe (!!) and not a "circled" stripe, than a circled stripe. See what I am mean, I am not really happy with all of Deiones I have seen.
It must have been someone else Pam, but if they are European I'll give them a go Pam... I am having a look at your collection right now:-)
Looks very similar, though I'm not so good ID'ing with photos. I'll also wait for bayucca. Daniele was it you who was into Skippers? I remember someone telling me they had a love of Skippers, and I have several without ID's...
Hi Pam! This one's had me puzzled for a while... let see what bayucca has to say about my suggestion:-)
@ bayucca, thanks mate...
Brenthis daphne ino should be Brenthis daphne and Brenthis ino, they are two different species. But it is neither of the two. Brenthis has a single row of spots on the forewing. I will try to get closer, but I can already tell you it will take some time and it is a tricky one. I have some IDeas, but I am not yet happy.
anyone recognise this small butterfly?
this was a small butterfly, found in a field of smallish wildflowers. I am wondering if it might be: brenthis daphne ino? Couldn't get a shot of the under wings,as it landed and immediately opened it's wings...
