Field Notes

Notes:

When I first saw this I thought it was a "horsefly" but after taking a closer look it seems to have a stinger? Found in Indiana.

Species ID Suggestions

Robber Fly

Family Asilidae

Comments (2)

They happen to eat most any other arthropods that fly.
Some kind of Robber Fly, they do not sting, can not be of help beyond that.
