Field Notes

Notes:

Found these crickets in downtown Austin, at the capital building. There seemed to be a sudden population boom. The photo of the scattered crickets are individuals that are mostly dead. The photo of the crickets around the tree are alive and extend approximately 1 foot from the base of the tree. I have seen them gather in random locations in such masses & haven't been able to determine why they're doing this or what's created the population explosion.
