Thank you Amy Rollins for the ID and the link. It really looks very similar, but I found that the shape of the head is different and the size of the eyes are different as well.
The species in this photo look similar to yours.
Gordon Dietzman, thank you for the pointer. I will look it up and see what it is.
I'm not familiar with insects found in this area, but am wondering if it is a blue-margined ground beetle (Pasimachus). I'd search a bit using that as a criteria and see what you come up with. Will be curious what you find out. Nice photo!
