Awesome mushroom! I would say it is one of the many waxy caps-either genus Hygrocybe or Hygrophorus. I would probably say Hygrophorus miniatus-Fading Scarlet Waxy Cap. It likes to live in moss and its widespread across North America. It is very small as the width of the cap is usually 3/4" to 1 and 5/8," it only grows to be 1" to 2" tall and the width of the stalk is usually 1/8 of an inch thick. I am an amateur at best but that's my guess! Here are pictures: http://www.missourimycologicalsociety.org/vouchers-v1.asp?funginum=224.
