Field Notes

Description:

Sluglike creature, however it did move more like a leech. Blackish with lighter latheral stripes. It's pointy "head" kept looking for a place to hide in the same way leeches look for blood.

Habitat:

In our garden in Windwardside, at the foot of the Volcano Mount Scenery in the Caribbean Sea. I found it with a friend in mud under our wooden waterbarrel.

Notes:

As I said before it behaved more like a leech looking for blood, however it did not come towards me but rather was trying to find a way back into the soil. I therefor hope it is not a leech as we had several in the garden and we also have dogs and a cat.

Peculiar! I don't think this is a leech, but rather a flatworm/land planarian. Looks somewhat reminiscent of the New Zealand flatworm, but your organism doesn't have any spots: https://eol.org/pages/4976416 It could also be one of the Geoplanidae.
