Description:
Tiny insects. About 1cm long, and thin. Conspicuous mandibles. Covered in pollen. Look completely black to unaided eye. 3 photos show one individual, and 1 shows a mating pair, found on a nearby flower cluster, which I believe to be the same species.
Don't know what kind of plant this is, but this insect species loves it. In addition to the three photographed, I saw another mating pair close by. There must have been lots more, since I found those I saw in a small section of the bush, without looking for them. They were hiding underneath the flowers or between them.
Habitat:
Flowery bush on UGA campus. I included one photo of the bush, to give a sense of scale.
