Habitat:

Found in dappled shade in friends back yard. It is 1 3/4 inches across the underside of the cap. The cap itself is 3/4 inch thick. The total height including the stem is 2 inches.

It is in the boletus family. So many possibilities. This one is quite old, which makes ID more difficult. Too bad you didn't show it to me in person. I might have been able to give you a better idea
