Field Notes

Description:

Green and black spider with an intricate pattern on its back. All its body is covered with patterns that seem to mimetize with moss.

Habitat:

Tropical cloud forest

Notes:

A mud dauber wasp (seen in one of the pics) was hauling this beautiful spider to its nest after paralyzing it. The spider is alive, but unable to move - it would have probably been very hard to photograph the pattern on its back otherwise!

I thought it was a piece of moss the wasp was carrying, until a very close look showed it to be a spider.
