Description:

I observed this slighly odd behaviour of caterpillars in the Parque del Retiro in Madrid. One group had formed a circular bundle, the other formed a long line running across the path and several metres across the grass. We wondered if the circular group had followed one which was lost.

These almost look like tent caterpillars, which do gather together.
