Possibly Retiboletus ornatipes (also called Boletus ornatipe): http://www.mushroomexpert.com/retiboletus_ornatipes.html http://illinoismushrooms.com/Boletus%20ornatipes.html I'm not completely happy with that ID but it's the closest I have found so far.
Growing under standard mid-atlantic tree cover. I took it too long ago to know for sure!
This looks like a type of Bolete. Was it growing under a particular type of tree? I do see Oak leaves.
