Description:

Growth on a leafless plant in early spring, about 1.5" in size.

Habitat:

Seen in an area with shrubby vegetation, bordering temperate forest and a marsh on the grounds of Tanglewood Nature Center.

Notes:

Unsure if this is a gall or a fruiting body.
