Field Notes
Description:
The size was difficult to determine as it was at the very top of a tree. I would estimate the height of the tree to be about 45 feet more or less. The hawk appeared to have a dark brown crest, deep brown upper-parts with some white markings, and a white chest with light brownish bars. It appears to have a square tipped tail with deep brown bars. It has some yellow coloring on its' bill, but it is difficult to see in the series. This hawk had yellow legs.
Notes:
I spotted this hawk in my neighborhood. We live in a suburban area with lots of growth. I would appreciate any help with an i.d. I am thinking perhaps a Sharp-shinned or Coopers Hawk.
