Field Notes

Description:

Soft, rubbery, and possibly confused fungus. Not sure if those are the gills on top, or what is exactly going on. Southern Hackberry, Maple, Paw Paw, and Beech in immediate vicinity.

Mixed Woods

That would have to be one extremely convoluted hare's ear, doubt this is a cup fungi.
I was not able to find any information to support Crepidotus.
probably a member of the crepidotus family..crepidotus cesatii looks pretty similar but not sure about it
That's really cool. It does look like it's growing upside-down. I would be curious to know what it is.
