Description:

1/2" long moth. Similar in appearance to an armyworm but I can't find a match.

Habitat:

Semi rural

I may have more shots of this Tamar. I'll trawl back through all my photos when I get a chance.
Genus Autographa I think. That crest on the hump of the thorax and the patterning are common with this genus. Do you recall what color the light spots were (white or brassy metallic or other)? http://bugguide.net/node/view/7237/bgpage
