Wildlife Spotting

I was sunbathing by the resort pool when I noticed a rather large insect (3"-4" long) join me on the next deck chair. As I leaned in for a closer inspection, it flattened inself down into the shape of a leaf and remained so for several minutes until it was somewhat sure that I meant no harm. It was able to leap/fly.
