American Giant Millipede

Narceus americanus

Comments (1)

These cool critters are America's largest species of millipede, and, fortunately for us down here in Florida, they are practically EVEYWHERE! Colors can vary a bit, but basic browns with peach or pinkish legs is most common. Totally harmless, and in fact they make very interesting pets...I've got some in a 5 gallon tank I take to schools and educational programs. They munch on a chunk of decaying wood that I found them under.
