Looks not bad, but, please, not the 2 spikes (like montains) in the middle of the forewing (at the margin) in Circumflexa! Yours has no 2 mountain pikes, that's the reason why I didn't called yours Circumflexa before...
Ok, I am convinced I found the right one bayucca, on the link on my previous comment - however there are conflicting names here that I dont understand, what would you suggest the correct latin name will be - Cornutiplusia circumflexa? many thanks for all your help!

ok, back to the drawing board... pity, i really like the name Alfalfa...
Sorry, no. Alfalfa Looper Moth is a US species. The family is correct. I suggest that you try to get more information about the candidate I mentioned in my previous comment. But I am in the meanwhile pretty sure it is NOT the Circumflex or Essex Y.
http://bugguide.net/node/view/704926/bgimage I think it is one - do you agree bayucca?
http://mothphotographersgroup.msstate.edu/species.php?hodges=8921 So many similar moths... Im trying here
Definitely a Noctuidae and Plusiinae. Might be a Circumflex, Cornutiplusia circumflexa, an almost global member of this family. But I am not 100% sure about it, there are some lines which should be more spiky in yours (on the hindwing) compared to Circumflex. Other candidates were Ctenoplusia sp., Trichoplusia sp.?? http://www.lepiforum.de/cgi-bin/lepiwiki.pl?Cornutiplusia_Circumflexa
