Field Notes

Description:

An orange-colored mushroom that I found in the woods around Winfield, LA.

Habitat:

In the woods beneath a mixture of pine trees and underbrush. It was growing in pine needles.

Notes:

It would be great if someone could suggest a species because I have no clue what it is.

Species ID Suggestions

Fly Agaric

Amanita muscaria var. flavivolvata

Freaky looking muscaria but I think he's right!
I'd call this Amanita muscaria. The white gills and the skirt-like veil with yellow tips are a dead give away. Habitat fits as well. It is always helpful to dig up the entire mushroom and take pictures of the base, especially with Amanitas.
