Species ID Suggestions

Carolina Roadside-skipper

Amblyscirtes carolina

Comments (5)

I compared it to other pictures of Carolina Roadside Skippers and it didn't seem to match up to me. Any other suggestions?
Thanks, great pointers. How about shape? I always associated roadside-skippers with a more straight-edged forewing, more or less in line with the hindwing.
It is possible I'm wrong. But to me, the color and apparent size say Carolina Roadside-skipper, not Sachem or Fiery which I think would be the other two contenders. The ground color is very pale and appears to be pale brownish and the spots appear to be very reddish-brown. Also, the forewing is very dark brownish which I also would not associate with the other two.
How can you tell it's a Carolina Roadside-skipper? I can't see the abdomen and the fringe on the forewing is worn. Also the antennae is not striped like Randy's site shows.
