Field Notes

Description:

Anout 20 cm long and 5 cm round.
It has all these little compartments all just identical. Whitish/grey colour.

Habitat:

Beach Koh Samui Thailand

Notes:

First time I found this I thought it was plastic, but when I took it home it deteriorated over time. So it must be organic. But WHAT is it?

OMG he is dead(Neville Coleman ) I did not know. That was a stupid comment then.
YES! That looks so much like the same thing! I wonder if I can send the picture to Neville Coleman to get a pos ID?! Soooooo excited
This could be an egg case of a mollusc. I don't know much about them, but I hope that this may spark more discussion to help you ID this strange find. I found a photo that looks similar on this page http://www.nevillecoleman.com.au/underwater-marine-life-journal/nature-in-focus/sea-shells-of-the-indo-pacific/. Scroll down a ways to Murex acanthostophes (or just do ctrl+f Murex acanthostophes).
Re-opening this in the hope someone might know what this is.
I know I am curious too, ANYONE ANYONE??
That's interesting; I wonder what it is? The "skeleton" of a sea creature?
