Description:

Found this amazing bug on bitter gourd vine today. It was twice as large as a lady bug and was hairy.

Habitat:

Lower Himalayas.

This is an interesting spotting. The two hemispherical beetle families are leaf beetles and ladybird beetles. They are very easily confused. Ladybird beetles have short antennae and that is what I think your is.
