Field Notes

Habitat:

Spotted in a grassy meadow section of a suburban backyard. The grasses and whatnot stand about 3 feet high.

Notes:

This guy was traveling around about a foot off of the ground

(My apologies for the delay in responding) Thank you, BugEric :) I don't think this particular one is a Fall Webworm ... the coloring was a reddish brown rather than a yellow, and it did not have the double row of dots on the back. it's impossible to tell this from the picture here, but it was also a bit larger than the webworms I have seen, though my experience with them is limited rather so I may have simply seen small ones. It was near a tall walnut tree that has a tent caterpillar nest, though, now that you mention it.
I'm pretty sure, anyway :-)
