Description:

Is this another Zebra Jumper? They seem to be getting more diverse in their abdominal patterns all the time :P Sorry about the red, he's on my Muskoka chair.

Habitat:

Diverse woods near a small lake.

Hey CarolSnowMilne, for macro gear, I think the best way to go is with what you like. If you can convert your light weight camera to take better macros, or add closeup filters for the lens, then that may be the best solution for you. I've spent 2 years tinkering with my slr to get this kit, and I still don't love the highlights I get... but I do still still love shooting! PS, your macros are great, and I really enjoy seeing them!

I have a Panasonic DMC-FZ47 with built in macro for all objects except apparently for Jumping Spiders. HA! I think I can get a Macro converter for this camera. I just don't know. Still learning.

Thanks Carol, these guys are really hard to photograph without a macro kit. (I use a reversed lens on bellows.) I'm eating my toque in my profile shot -- I took it at the photo studio at my college -- models were late so took some fun shots.

I found a jumping spider, but not a macro like this. Your profile photo is so funny. What r u eating. My photo is photo-shopped of a regular photo in the Serengeti National Park. LOL

Btw, did you know this family are among the most intelligent spiders in the world, they are measured to have the same processing-capability as small mammals ;)

With 5000 different species the jumping spider is the largest spider family in the world, I would leave it to the experts to find out the exact species this one belong to :) Good photos btw!
