Bird photos are hard! I don't live to far away from you, and both species are about equally has common. But the bright yellow breast with a black "V" on the breast is a giveaway for a meadowlark. They are starting to sing this time of year, you should be on the lookout for them. Both species have a pretty call!

Thank you for the tip. My son took the picture right before the bird flew away so I unfortunately couldn't get a clearer one. We've been on the lookout for it in so we can add clearer pictures.

This is either a Western or Eastern Meadowlark, but with this photo it is impossible to tell, and both are in range. Easiest way to tell them apart is by call, but you can also tell them apart by having a clear look at the face.
