Field Notes

Description:

I was hunting mushrooms and this fly flew lazily by me and landed on a nearby twig. I almost kept walking thinking I'd probably never get the shot, but he stayed still for me for several shots. About a cm in length (making him smaller than an average fly -- in my estimation). It's the red eyes that make it so interesting I think.

Habitat:

Maple woods.
