Field Notes

Description:

This species of algae started growing and is really taking off in my brackish water fish tank that has common oysters (C. Virginica) in it. It forms on circular clumps that form mounds and finger like projections. The projections float upward by holding onto tiny air bubbles. When you try and scoop a section away it all holds together and comes up as one clump.

Habitat:

Contained in a salinity of 20-25ppt that is constantly circulating and aerated at around 20 degrees Celsius.
