Field Notes

Description:

This snake is about 30 cm long and just about as round as a regular pencil. It's brown with regular patches of black. It's almost unnoticeable due to this coloration. Its tail is stubby and is similarly shaped as its head. It was hurrying towards a small hole in the ground when a friend and I saw it. It is non-aggressive as I was able to touch it and it didn't react so much. If at all, I seemed to hurry even more to the hole it was heading.

Yes. It was a bit foolish of me to touch it. I know to assume every snake to be venomous. But my excitement got the best of me!

You were brave to touch a snake that you were not familiar with.... ! How did you know it was not venomous?!? Size isn't a good indicator of whether a snake is "safe" or not, either.
