thanks ReichSabine. Unfortunately it will have to remain unsolved probably as I was only visiting Vancouver when I took this photo and didn't know so much about what I needed to check for ID purposes. Thank you anyway....
I cannot see much of the underside or the stem very sharp, but it looks like a tube or pore mushroom and might be a bolete. As there are many kinds and also not so nice look-alikes, I suggest to google more info and do some tests, such as cutting and checking for bruising, staining etc.
