if it doesn't have the white mycelium at the point of attachment, it could be witch's butter, an edible fungus, which is what I think I have here: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=151908478417&set=a.151857428417.110947.819728417&type=3&theater
Well I am not sure which species my pic corresponds to either, hahaha, that is why it is still unknown.
Thanks Chesterb. I didnt know which species yur pic corresponds to. It seems that either Tremella or Dacrymyces species occur in my country for what you say, thanks. Ive seen this in Abies religiosa and Sambucus nigra quite often.
I am not sure which species you are referring to, D. palmatus' range does extend into Mexico, this specimen is likely a Tremella spp. as LWP suggested and there are representative species of that genus in Mexico.
do you know if this species' distribution includes southern parts of the continent, as Mexico? thanks
D. palmatus association with conifers would rule that species out as a possibility Matthew.
Compare to Tremella and Dacrymyces: http://mushroomobserver.org/observer/observation_search?pattern=dacrymyces
