Hi Matthew! You should try this site to id Amanitas: http://pluto.njcc.com/~ret/amanita/mainaman.html#continue\ The site is dedicated to a Dutch mycologist, Cees Bas. He was one of the leaders in the Amanita studies of the last decades. A great, sympathatic man, who truely lives for Amanitas! Based on the looks of the specimen shown, you should probably check the section Lepidella.
Its deff an amanita, what is the website you use to help identify spotting, i would like to use it.
The woods around my house are littered with amanitas
You're finding a lot of cool Amanitas. The folks at MushroomObserver.org can identify them. I can't.
