I know it's some sort of tortoise I just don't know what type.

It also looks a lot like an African Sulcata. Can you include a photo of the back of its thighs? If there are "spurs" it's a Sulcata.
Could be a Russian tortoise (Agrionemys horsfieldii). They're common in the pet trade. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_tortoise
