Wow, maybe they're 'Jack lanterns'! I was just reading this thread: https://mycotopia.net/forums/wild-mushrooming-field-forest/95542-couple-photos-id-please.html . According to wikipedia they glow slightly at night, they smell nice but are poisonous to eat

I didn't think to look at the underside. I was just amazed to see it completely encircling the tree.

I'm very certain that I've seen this same mushroom in New York. I have no idea what it is. I mistakenly labeled it as a Cantharellus spp.
