Definitely Halysidota sp. and impossible to get closer without the native specimen. There are too many around and the variability within the genus/species is also to be considered.

I apologize. I meant similar species in Costa Rica.
I believe Fyn was referring to Halysidota as the genus, not Lophocampa. Looks a lot like this one, though I am not sure if you have other similar species in Mexico. Halysidota is notorious for being unidentifiable by photos. http://bugguide.net/node/view/217944/bgpage
Tussock Moth species, Looks a lot like the North American Banded Tussock Moth - Lophocampa caryae.
