Field Notes

Description:

Mass of swarming beetles. Individual size approximately the tip of a q-tip. Colouring varies between solid black and orange with black spots - clustered together.

Habitat:

Located on a flat cement stone next to building. Surrounding area is gravel/sand mixture with wildflowers and grass interspersed. Area also has nearby deciduous forest.

White-margined Burrower Bug

Sehirus cinctus

White-margined burrower bug is a true bug but it belongs to the family Cydnidae.
These are hemiptera nymphs for sure, but I can't tell the species for sure.
