Field Notes

Description:

I saved this insect from drowning in my pond. It's about 1cm in length with bright yellow markings. It may be a species of solitary bee or wasp but I really don't know. It took about 20 second to dry off its wings and then flew away before I could take any more pics.

Sorry should have said genus Hylaeus - Family Colletidae - Check this http://www.aussiebee.com.au/hylaeus_nubilosus.html
Ah well done zenmach and welcome to Project Noah. This little wet critter might be a 'masked bee' in Hylaeus family but a bit hard to tell for sure.
