Thank you. I'm not sure either. The day I took them there were 3 playing around this tree. Glad I was able to catch one on photo.
Hi J I see that you have the correct scientific name for the Red-bellied Woodpecker, so the Common Name must just be a slip!
I have not birded much in Florida, but think that this is a Red-bellied Woodpecker. Check my spottings for Downy Woodpecker or Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Downy_Woodpecker This is probably a female Red-bellied but the photo is not that clear. What do you think?
