Field Notes

Notes:

I need to know what this animal is. I don't know if this is 2 different animals,( the skull of one and the spine of another) or if it is just one. My husband seems to think it is some sort of cat but we do not live where any large cats of any kind inhabit. (Not even house cats). I believe my dogs brought it into the yard and the my children found it. Please help me...

Some sort of pig or peccary, too many teeth for a cat: https://animaldiversity.org/accounts/Lynx_rufus/specimens/collections/contributors/phil_myers/ADW_mammals/specimens/Carnivora/Felidae/Lynx_rufus/lower_lateral/ vs a pig: https://www.skullsunlimited.com/products/real-domestic-pig-skull?variant=2576989421592
My grandson, who is 14 years old, would like to name some mammals, this skull might belong too: These are only guesses: mountain lion, wolf, dog, bobcat, lynx, fox, badger, mink, weasel, coyote, etc, etc.,?
Or perhaps a Collared Peccary: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collared_peccary
This can go into the Mammals category. This looks like a pig skull. I am pretty sure there are feral hogs in your area.
