Species ID Suggestions

Wax-like Hygrophorus

Stropharia cubensis

Comments (6)

If there was a ring on the stem then it is fairly likely. :)
Probably a Pholiotina type, Jez?
Much appreciated, Jez - it was growing solitary, though. I'll check the Conocybe and Psanthyrella direction - thanks a lot.
I cannot really give a definitive ID just from this shot, so I will make my suggestions here. The existing ID suggestion is absolutely in the wrong continent and doesn't fit the image. If the stem was brittle and it grew in a cluster then probably Parasola conopilus. I wonder if Parasola is due for a new generic common name but traditionally this species was called Conical Brittlestem. Other possibilities include Conocybe tenera or a species of Psathyrella.
It's no Stropharia cubensis, Andrés. Please take a look at your suggestions, before you post them. Compare my spotting with your suggestion: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/8a/Pcubmazatapec.jpg
