Field Notes

Description:

It looks like insects have made a nest in the interstices of my shutters. They are filled with small pebbles. I did not want to destroy them. What can it be?

The pebbles probably come from a sandbox that is a few meters away.
These are shutters of French Windows (see New photo). The second wing has nothing. I dug but did not find anything. If there was anything, they left now.
I wouldn't rule anything out until we know better lol. Did you look behind the shutter? Unfortunately, if we find no evidence of life, it can not remain on PN.
If it were the wind it would not have been in discrete clusters...it would have been like a diffuse band...plus the clusters look quite uniform in shape to me...as if a pattern.
So many questions... Can you determine where the material might have been carried from? Is it possible that wind might have done it? What is above? You might need to do the science to be sure (dig one out)
