Field Notes

Description:

Very big. Guestimating the length to be about 4 inches. Abdomen just a wee bit longer than the wings. Colors were gorgeous; thorax emerald green, abdomen blue with black bands. I think this is a male, since the abdomen is so slender.

Habitat:

Ocala Florida- commonly seen in our parking area

Notes:

Sadly deceased, removed from the front bumper of a vehicle. Amazing features. (I kept it!)

I am wrestling between Giant Darner and Common Green Darner. The abdomen on mine is banded like the Giant, and long and thin like the Giant, but found in Florida... outside the Giant Darner's territory. I'm puzzled.
