thanks all for your expert opinion and sp. identification.
common wood shrike has brown streaks on breast. Thanks Stian for adding more light to the subject. Hope to have more clarity from other members on board
What about the Common Woodshrike (Tephrodornis pondicerianus) Look at the white spot above the eye.
To make sure, we are now talking about Lanius cristatus?
thanks manish! this site might help to clarify: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_birds_of_India#Shrikes
Plate No 60.13 of Field Guide to the Birds of India - Krys Kazmeirczak shows the bird is resident to the area of spotting. I think vebusflytrap2000 is right
thank you danielle, i've removed my suggestion and am checking INDIAN shrikes ;) i know why i suggested a species endemic to the phillippines; at that time i was also trying to identify another species of bird in the phillippines :) just got confused. thanks
Caleb, the bird you're linking to (Mountain shrike, Lanius validirostris) is endemic to the Philippines. Please, check for distribution before making suggestions. Thanks.
i GUESS it could be a brown shrike, but it really looks a lot to me like a mountain shrike.
