I did't see that. You know different organisms can grow on each other. For eg a different kind of fungi can grow on a mushroom which is a fungi itself. or moss or blue green algae can also grow on a mushroom. The other organism you see could very well be an algae. Lichen is an organism with a fungal component and an algal component. It requires both to function as a lichen.
It appears to have an algae growth in the center.

I have found this growing on mail boxes which are not wooden exactly.
Greenshield lichen? I was surprised this could grow on vinyl siding!
