Field Notes

Description:

It's a burnt red color, and the abdomen and thorax seem to be together. No stinger in the back but has what looks like a stinger on the head by the mouth. It's about the size of a paper wasp but without the abdomen in the back. It also has several bark stripes down the back.

Notes:

Found in Southwest Iowa by Clarinda, Iowa.
